Offense Strategy:
This match-up is defined by two things; footsies and pressure. Pressure to capitalise on Abel's weak defensive options and force him to stay defensive. The defensive options you need to look out for are EX roll, Tornado Throw (EX and normal) and his normals (standing LK, crouching HP/MK, standing HP). Your footsie skills will determine how well you can initiate pressure. Abel's Step Kick is the most important tool in this regard, so know the range and how to use this move well.

Defense Strategy:
On the flipside, you're in a lot of trouble if the opponent's Abel is keeping you under pressure. It may be bad and you don't really have that many options but keep up your guard as best you can and look for an out. EX moves work well against Abel as well as standing LK given that Abel's moves can be slow at times. Push him off you and create some distance, then counter and step in with your own pressure.

Notes:
- The 1st hit of Change of Direction is about 0 or at worst -1 frames on block so a reversal Tornado Throw will fail if he just throws or jumps. The 2nd hit and 3rd hit of Change of Direction puts him on huge negative frames and leaves him well open for punishes.
- All rolls are throwable but watch out for short rolls which recover much faster.
- Abel can use his Super as a surprise anti-air move. This move auto-corrects and can be used to counter cross-ups.
- Wheel Kick is effective in this match-up against both Abels. His viable options are to avoid the kick, block or to roll through it.
