Capcom is 'rebalancing' the game once again come 2012. Not like I'm complaining (I am a little, the Adon changes aren't fun), since Abel looks like he's getting a whole lot of goodies. Check them out below:
Cr.HP is back to how it was in Super.
One of my biggest gripes with Abel in AE was how bad this move became. And this being one of his biggest tools? Welcome back, old friend.
TT Damage up +10: LP 160 MP 180 HP 200
Not really necessary, but any buff for Abel is a good buff.
Breathless : from startup till active, hit invulnerable. (LOL. People will start trolling with U2, again.)
Again not necessary... but DAMN. U2 seemed good before but now this? I like :)
Second Low Hit Stun improved, So when you do 2nd Low FADC, you’ll be at +9 at most. Meaning that, you can do 2nd Low FADC Cr.HP U1.
Not sure what I feel about this.

Evil Ryu, Oni Akuma for Arcade Edition
Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma have just been revealed for SSF4:AE. The former is Ryu consumed by the Satsui no Hado with a hole(?) in his chest which seems like the cause of his evilness. Maybe Akuma did it. The latter is Akuma unleashing his full power, making him stronger and looking like an oni from Onimusha. Either way they both look spectacular, check them out at the links below.

Changes (Nerfs) to Abel in AE
EDIT: So I was looking at this video and I have to agree, I don't really see those nerfs on Abel impacting his game so much. He still wrecks some serious shop on Yang. Probably his Breathless is the only thing that got hit real bad.
Link to Abel vs Yang video
This came out a while ago I think but after watching the EPIC video (by Dhim) I looked out for the changes to Abel in the Arcade Edition, seeing as even though we might not get a machine here for a while (or ever), the DLC might hit the console. That said, its a horrible, horrible day for Abel players. Whole bunch of nerfs, all of them quite bad. I hate the nerfs on Breathless; think it really is time to switch back to Soulless. Anyway here's the list:
Source: Gouki.com
Changes to Abel:
1. 2nd hit of Abel's Crouching Hard Punch has a smaller hitbox, both upward and downward.
2. Tornado Throw damage reduced.
3. Roll lost some of its hit invincibility at the end of it, making it easier to punish. There was no change to the recovery frames.
4. Ultra 1 had a 10% damage reduction. Ultra 1's new damage would range from 309-450. In SSF4 it was 343-500.
5. Ultra 2 10% damage reduction, slower startup, super armor gets removed when Abel starts to run forward and there's a longer recovery time when you cancel out of it. New damage totals for Ultra 2 should range from 295-440. In SSF4 these were 328-480.

SSF4 AE DLC in 2011?
EDIT: Its not blocked anymore... in fact Ono has come out to say its probably gonna happen so that's good.
Link to Article on Potential AE DLC in 2011
According to Yoshinori Oni, the features and new characters (Yun and Yang) that will be included in the arcade cabinets of SSF4 are being blocked by upper management to be included as DLC for the consoles. He's working on it and has already gotten approval from his direct boss but it can go either way. Not sure why it's even getting blocked, maybe cause they have so many other projects at the moment? Here's the link anyhow:

SSF4 Coming to the Nintendo DS
A bit late, but news it out there that SSF4 is coming to the Nintendo 3DS, the new 3D touch-screen hand-held platform. The hand-held and the game looks set to be released in February 2011 and boasts features such as 3D imaging, shoulder perspectives and multiplayer features. Check out the few links below:

New Character Additions - Yun & Yang
Coming over from SF3 comes two new additions of Genei Jin and custom fame: Yun and Yang. Reports cite that they play closely to their SF3 counterparts and if that's true, these characters could be a force to be reckoned with. In any case, its another change to adapt to and these guys may pose a serious problem for Abel with their high and fast offensive.
Yun and Yang will first be available for the arcade version when its released but will be made available as a DLC for the console at a later date. Check out the link below for more info:

New DLC launched for SSF4
The first news is a bit old. A new DLC tournament mode was released about a week ago for SSF4. A game patch for some bug fixes in SSF4 also was released along with the tournament mode. Here's what you get from the DLC, sourced from Eventhubs:
Tournament Mode
• Tournament Mode is a head-to-head in single-elimination tournament with brackets, which works with 4 or 8 players.
• You can watch other tournament matches in progress while you're waiting for your turn and voice chat. Players competing can hear you as well, but if it annoys you, there's a mute option.
• To help with lag, spectators will be a little bit behind the actual match that's being played.
• Tournament Mode works with SSFIV's recording feature.
• There are no battle points or rankings, but Tournament Mode will give players unique and special online titles, which can be won and lost from other players.
• Character selection is double-blind.
• Tournaments will continue on even if a participating player drops out.
• While the max amount of people a tournament can hold is 8 players, a 9th person can be there as the host. If the host drops, another will be found.
Game Patch
• Fei Long's infinite combo loop against Juri will be removed.
• Unblockable Ultras will be fixed.
• Guy will no longer be able to be thrown while he's crouching and in hit stun animation. A bug made it possible to combo throw moves while he was in this state.
• Ibuki's invincibility window on wake up — under certain circumstances — was too long, this will be fixed.
• The 2nd hit of Ibuki's Spinning Kicks missing Chun-Li will be fixed.
• Counter hit damage on M. Bison's (Dictator) Ultra 2 was too low, the life it takes off when it scores a counter hit will be increased.
• Sagat's Angry Scar was not working properly in some instances (EX-Tiger Uppercut doesn't get damage upgrade in some cases).

Option Selecting and Hit Confirms
Bunch of videos sourced from Lord of Ultima's you tube page describing hit confirms. He covers why and when you should hit confirm.
3-min Fundamentals: Hit Confirming
Maybe more importantly, his latest video highlights option selecting. Option selects are when you input a move together, in the midst of a string, or buffered as part of a move to allow the best "option" to be chosen given a situation. He covers option selects in detail; OS tech throw, OS meaty and OS buffers.

Preliminary Tier Lists
I'm not a firm believer of tier lists but I see value in anything that gives me some insight into what the metagame is going to evolve into. The most notable change is how Abel has jumped from C in vanilla to A+/A in SSF4. This is purely speculation at the moment so no one knows what's going to happen 3 months from now. Dan might make A+ tier for all you know.
EDIT (10 Jan 2011):
6 months since the first tier list, we have the latest list by iPlaywinner. Things still look pretty much the same, but with the nerfs on Abel in AE this list might change pretty soon.

Street Fighter 4: Legacy
SF: Legacy is not a new SF movie but rather a prelude of things to come. The movie is a short fan film (3 minutes in length) created by Ansah featuring Ryu and Ken. The effects are a bit funny and some of the choreography towards the end could have been better but the overall feel of the movie isn't too bad. Worth 3 minutes of your life if you like Street Fighter, at least.

New Street Fighter Movie?
Legend of Chun Li was a disaster. Everyone knows that. Apparently it was so bad that a fan of Street Fighter, director Joey Ansah of Bourne Ultimatum fame, has stepped up to make the next SF movie titled Street Fighter: Legacy. Fingers crossed that it's much better than LoCL.
Excerpt from the article:
"Just a few short days ago, a video circulated showing a teaser trailer for a new Street Fighter mini-movie, created by actor and series fan Joey Ansah (Bourne Ultimatum). His vision, called Street Fighter: Legacy, will be seen when the film releases online this Thursday. In fact, Capcom has even given their seal of approval, and is promoting Ansah’s film. Check out the trailer after the break."

1 million copies of SSF4 shipped
Capcom announced that they have shipped about 1 million copies of SSF4 to retailers. While this doesn't mean they have sold 1 million copies of the game yet, the number is still impressive.

Super Street Fighter 4 Pt. 3
With SSF4 only a week away, here's what you can expect from the game:
- The US price tag is at US$40. At a conversion rate of roughly 3.5 + import taxes, this could bring the game to our shores at a price of about RM150 for the regular, RM180-190 for the limited edition.
- Expect the game to reach our shores by 26-27th April 2010.
- Ono has officially announced that SSF4 will be the last incarnation of the SF4 series. Further updates will be added on to the game via DLC.
- Revamps to the online system are as follows: Endless battle, a winner stays-loser leaves format, Team battles where teams of 4 group up to battle other teams of 4 and the Replay system which has been upgraded (for the PS3 at least) to include input commands, better rewind/fast forward functions and the ability to save replays for all matches (including offline)
- 10 new characters (Hakan, Juri etc.) and each character will have 2 new ultras (Metsu Shoryuken), rebalancing for all characters (e.g. Sagat, Akuma) and new moves (e.g. Sagat Scar Scratch etc.)
- Secret addons if you already own save data for SF4 on your harddisk. Extra colors, quotes and illustration styles so I heard.
- Bonus stages i.e. the car smash and the barrels break stages are back.
- SSF4 has already been leaked to the Xbox360 in pirated form.

SSF4 Graphics Comparison: PS3 VS 360
An article comparing SSF4 for the PS3 to the Xbox360 in terms of graphics.
Article Link HERE (source: Perez Start)
To sum it up, colors are less vibrant on the Xbox360 but the edges are less smooth for the PS3. Also, the PS3 version only runs up to 780P while the 360 version goes all the way to 1080P. I'm getting a "free" copy of the game for the PS3 anyway so this doesn't influence my decision on which version to buy. Does it change yours?
SSF4 Ultra Compilation
All the ultras in SSF4 have been revealed. Some look really good, others not so much. Still trying to weigh how this would effect the game as there's so much to consider. I think I'll probably only know once I've got a handle on it. Abel's ultra is looking good actually. In any case, enjoy.
Final build SSF4 change builds
This came out some time ago (March 10). Some guys played the final build of SSF4 and commented on what they could on what changes they could find on the characters. I'm liking the changes they made to Abel, to Zangief and the overall feeling on Dudley.
EDIT: Added some more info to the respective fighters.
General:
• Focus Attacks are faster, you have to be more aware of them now or you'll eat a combo.
• It seems like Super moves across the board do more damage.
Abel: Crouching Hard Kick is faster. His Ultra 2 can't combo but its fast and has armor if you hold the button. It's a dashing grab which has one hit of Super Armor. You can also charge his Ultra up by holding the buttons, which keeps him in place for a moment. Abel's COD is apparently safer. Abel has more stamina.
*Note: Faster crouching Hard Kick is good. Reservations on Ultra 2 until I can test it myself. Safer COD still means it isn't that safe.. but any buff is a good buff
Adon: He seems very weak. Both ultras are hard to use. Jaguar Tooth and Jaguar Kick are both unsafe on block. Aerial Jaguar Kick might be safe. EX-Jaguar Kick is safe on block. Has a very good overhead though, one of the best.
Akuma: No known nerfs. Many of the nerfs from earlier builds were reverted. Infinite is gone, but you can still combo after far Standing Hard Kick again. Light Punch cannot link to Hard Kick anymore though, so you cant loop it. Level 2 Focus Attack into new ultra whiffs, but works from Level 3 Focus. EX-Air Fireball into Ultra 2 will combo.
Balrog (Boxer): Ultra 2 can be jumped out of on reaction after activation. His Ultra 2 is bad, it has terrible range. Seemed too hard to land to be worth giving up his Ultra 1.
Blanka: Seemed the same, his Ultra 2 isn't that great. He can be thrown out of it.
Cammy: Cannon Spike (Dragon Punch) damage nerfed pretty hard. Her Ultra 2 is terrible, it can be broken by moves that are Armor Breaking. Cammy's Spiral Arrow (Cannon Drill) seems more like it was in Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. Not exactly as good, but safer on block.
Chun-Li:- She got 'infinitely better'. Her Ultra 2 combos easily, all day. Up Kicks target combo goes into Ultra 2, as well as EX-Lightning Legs anywhere on the screen. It's very dangerous. Ultra 2 gets all 20 hits every time, if it whiffs for a while and you get hit by the very end of it, you still take the full damage.
Cody: He can only Focus Attack Dash Cancel his Tornado Uppercut on first hit and the tornado wont come out. He cannot combo Ultra after it. Has 3 levels of charge on his Zonk Knuckle, and its really really good and annoying. He says BINGO every time he does it. You can combo into it too. Hard Ruffian Kick is good. Cody's Zonk Knuckle has different versions depending on the button you hold. Takes about 4 seconds to charge it up. Cody can Focus Attack Dash Cancel off of almost every move he has.
C. Viper: No notable changes. She can land her Ultra 2 off EX-Seismo Hammer if you are fast. The recovery from Ultra 2 is ok. Rumors of Medium Punch Thunder Knuckle nerf are untrue or reversed, if its slower — its only by a frame or two.
Dan: Dan is secretly way better now, he got what he needed. Dragon Punch, Focus Attack Dash Cancel, Ultra 2 is strong. His fireball goes 60% of the screen now. The rest seems untouched, but this is 'all he needed' to be a contender.
Dee Jay: He seems decent. Nothing too bad, nothing too good. Reminds you of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in that way. Dee Jay's Machine Gun Punch is a charge move now and you no longer have to mash punches after the fact. People say he's a better version of Guile.
Dhalsim: He seemed the same. His Ultra 2 hit box is pretty small. Super hard to hit with.
Dudley: Not much to add to Justin Wong's video, but he is probably #1 in the game.
El Fuerte: His normal moves are all faster now. Ultra 2 is extremely good.
E. Honda: Noticed no changes, but opponents can't jump away on reaction to Ultra 2 once it's activated.
Fei Long: Changes not apparent. Counter Ultra can be broken by an Armor Breaking attack.
Gen: Only nerfs found so far, no chain combos, no Standing Medium Kick, Cancel into Hands at all. EX-Wall Dive lost some invincibility.
Gouken: No known nerfs. Ultra 2 is still blockable, but backthrow into 5 hits of it into wallbounce into more fun works. Gouken's Ultra 2 (Denjin Hadouken) when fully charged is still blockable, but it does 500 stun damage if blocked or if it connects.
Guile: He seems to have been given nothing. Sonic Hurricane, his Ultra 2 is not good. Super into Ultra 2 is the only known combo into it. Down+Taunt puts on glasses, but doesn't give him any buffs or advantages.
Guy: Feels slow. Has cool chain combos into his Super. EX-Spin Kick is vertical. EX-Shoulder is his best move, super fast.
Ibuki: Slide does not go under fireballs, air dagger throw doesn't cancel out fireballs.
Juri: Kara throw is good with Hard Punch. MrWizard could only find a 5 hit Custom Combo in Ultra 1 mode without Focus Attack Dash Canceling. Ultra 1 mode is really long in duration. EX-Wheel Kick seems to have a nearly instant startup. Hitpoints seemed close to Ibuki's, but it was hard to tell. Juri can store multiple fireballs using each of her kick buttons and it may be possible to have multiple projectiles on the screen at one time.
Ken: He is not looking good, they didn't give him much. He cannot Focus Attack Dash Cancel to Ultra 2 normally. He didn't get crazy kicks from previous SF games. They slightly improved his fireball. Ken's Hard Dragon Punch has more invincibility.
Makoto: EX grab has 1 hit of armor! Outside of this, nothing to add to JWong's video.
M. Bison (Dictator): Jumping Medium Punch into Ultra 2 works. Its not a charge motion so its very handy. Ultra 2 is a blockable stomp attack, and it can crossup! It hits hard, too! No known nerfs.
Rose: She can juggle off Soul Reflect into Soul Throw or Ultra 1 or EX-Fireball. Ultra 2 is very good. Can corner juggle into orbs. Each orb can hit once before it dissipates, including on block. They do about 20% damage each when your ultra meter is full. MrWizard noted that he needs to check what happens when projectiles hit them. When the orbs activate, there is a delay before you can do special moves again, including throw. They delay felt like 3-4 seconds. Orbs cross up very easy. Rose seemed powerful.
Rufus: EX-Messiah Kick is not as good, but still good. A few frames less on invincibility, and less damage. EX-Snake Strike damage is way down. Ultra 2 doesn't seem to combo well. Ultra 2 is a good anti-crossup or anti-air move, but that's about it. Has to work more for wins now.
Ryu: Ryu's Medium and Hard Dragon Punches hit twice now. Damage is down on it, but if you Focus Attack Dash Cancel, you only get one hit from it, so damage is down even farther. Trades into Ultra from Dragon Punches are gone, and most trades into Ultra from Street Fighter 4 are gone, but not all. Puts you in a floaty state, and you can't combo after wards.
Sagat: He does marginal less damage overall. Scar-uppercut does double damage, nothing more. If you do scar move, you can't do it again until you uppercut, but you can store the powered up state the entire round if you want. Towards + Hard Kick still puts your opponent into a juggle state.Sagat has 1,000 health now, down from 1,100.
Sakura: Her crossup Jumping Medium Kick is back. Very good cross up move. Makes her feel more like Sakura again. Ultra 2 is the best choice, it's two ultras in one. Okay damage, easy to combo, can aim it up or forward. EX-Hurricane Kick to Ultra is simple as hell. Sakura can combo into her Ultra 2 without using any meter.
Seth: Everything is the same, except his Focus Attack takes longer to hit at Level 2 now, it's not very good. Ultra 2 can combo anywhere you could combo stomps and does good damage.
T. Hawk: Condor Dive is his armor breaker. Tomahawk Buster (Dragon Punch) cannot be Focus Attack Dash Canceled at all, ever. Ultra 2 is bad, very, very, hard to hit. Feels slower than Zangief but stronger. His normals are very good. T. Hawk's Condor Spire seems to be a really good tool for getting inside. Hawk Dive doesn't travel as far forward, so it doesn't seem as useful as before.
Vega (Claw): Seemed the same. His Claw stays on a lot longer now, though. EX-Wall Dive off the wall doesn't go through opponent anymore.
Zangief: Very similar. He could Lariat trade into Ultra 2 in earlier builds, but he cannot anymore. Rufus and tall characters can block his Lariat low and punish with a Crouching Hard Kick. Zangief has 1,100 health, which is down from 1,200. Hit box on the Lariat got moved up a bit so it's easier to duck under.
*Note: Finally, Abel can sweep Zangief. Seemed ridiculous that you couldn't just coz you're big. And less HP is a plus.
Hakan: Seems OK at first. Has a 360 move where he puts you in his arms and squeezes you out with oil slicked body. you fly across the screen at a 45 degree angle. He can slide along the ground face first and hit punch during for a followup (only when oiled up). Has an air grab where he belly flops. Dragon Punch motion + Kick puts on more oil.
He takes out both hands and dumps oil on himself and it looks funny. He then glows white. When he has oil, he is 200% better. putting oil on takes half a second, and its duration based. EX-Oil lasts a long time. In non-oil mode, he is like Zangief. When he is in Oil Mode, he can chain everything, like Crouching Light Kick 4x into Medium Punch.
Moves in oil mode have more range, including 360. Front and backdash are better in oil mode too. All of his pokes have neutral and toward versions. Has a 'trap' ultra, where he lays down, and if you step on him, he grabs you. You cannot touch him at all, even if not attacking. You slip on his stomach like its ice. Then he 69s you as you slide along the ground and you fly out his buttocks.
The 2nd ultra is comedy as well. 720 motion, throws you up in the air and you board the OIL COASTER. You ride him going around his body till you are ejected into a wall at the end.
His Super is double fireball with kick. Its a leaping grab that's crouchable, like Alex DDT he leaps at you.

Super Street Fighter 4 Pt.2
Not such hot news now that it has been out for the last few months or so, but more info is coming out as the release date gets nearer. Biggest change is the addition of 9 (maybe 10) new characters from SFII Turbo, Alpha and SFIII: Dee Jay, T.Hawk, Guy, Cody, Makoto, Dudley, Ibuki, Juri, Adon and Hakan.
The 2nd biggest change is the new ultras. I've heard some mixed things about these new ultras. I reserve a more open view on this though I suspect that Abel didn't really get much out of this. Unless he can chain his new ultra into a cr.HP, I'm going to stick with my high damage, easy-to-combo and fireball-passable Soulless than use a one/two hit absorbing, grabbing ultra which you can charge. I mean, what's the deal? You gonna stand there charging your attack while Ryu stands on the far side chucking fireballs at you? Even close up what's the chances of grabbing someone? If it's anything like Zangief's FAB though I'm sold. That Ultra's a beast.

Super Street Fighter IV
In case you haven't heard, Capcom is releasing the next incarnation of Street Fighter 4 come Spring 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox360, possibly arcades too.
"Capcom announced an incremental sequel to Street Fighter IV game dubbed as Super Street Fighter IV. This SFIV sequel will feature eight or more characters, tweaked gameplay, new combos and improved online mode. Super Street Fighter IV is slated for spring 2010 release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Gamespot guys were lucky enough to get the first look at the Super Street Fighter IV game.
Super Street Fighter is an incremental sequel as improvements and additions are made based on Street Fighter community feedback. These enhancements also include the aspects of the game code that Capcom Dev team couldn't implement them in the SFIV game.
Surprisingly, Super Street Fighter IV won't be compatible with Street Fighter IV game and would be retailed on a stand alone disc. So, Street Fighter IV disc owners won't be able to tune their characters. This game is not going to be downloadable content for sure and won't be sold as full price.
Eight or maybe more characters will star in it, including T.Hawk's re-entry to 3D scene. A Tae Kwon Do girl named Juri would be added as the new character. Also, a leaked scan from Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine's upcoming issue reveals character Dee Jay. Previous game characters would return with new ultra combos.
Capcom is actively working the online mode of Super Street Fighter IV in which matches would take place. The company also mentioned an unspecified bonus for the owners of Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV discs."

So far there are 3 confirmed characters: Juri, Dee Jay and T.Hawk. Juri looks mean-as-ass but i'm not getting my hopes up too quickly.

Street Fighter IV: Dash
I heard about a new patch coming out for SFIV sometime next year maybe, so I did some digging around. Looks like its quite possibly going to come true, at least healthy talk about it is going on between Capcom and the community. It's called SFIV: Dash, some people are calling it SFIV:Championship Edition. You can read all about it here.
I'm all up for a rebalance but with new characters coming in, it's hard for me to imagine that any semblance of equality is going to happen. Surely some stronger characters are going to get nerfed (Sagat for example) and others are gonna get buffed (console characters mainly I would imagine). Also there's talk of some new characters, T.Hawk and Dee Jay being the popular favs right now. Some other characters like Ibuki and Cody are on the cards as well. Have to wait and see.
