vs Dudley

Statistics:
Stamina: 1,050
Stun: 1,050
Fighting Style: Boxing
Fighter Type: Brawler

vs Dudley: 5.5 – 4.5
Pros: No reversal without meter, weak to Breathless
Cons: High stamina, high damage output, good mix-ups, good pressure game

Move List:
fwd.HK – A quick overhead which is linkable to other normals.
fwd.MK – A good pressure move to keep opponents grounded in a block string.
cr.LK xx st.MK – Hits low and cancelable to Jet Uppercut.

Jet Uppercut (JU) – BnB, EX for reversals.
Machine Gun Blow (MGB) – BnB, EX juggles into U2 or specials.
Short Swing Blow (SSB) – Avoids throws but hittable throughout.
Cross Counter (CC) – Counters non-armor breaking and mid/high hits.
Thunderbolt – Not safe on block, does good chip damage. Can be FADCed for a safe escape. EX tracks.

Rocket Upper (S) - EX meters used for MGB but capable of charging meter fast so may be seen often.
Rolling Thunder (U1) – Used vs. projectiles mostly.
Corkscrew Cross (U2) – Most used ultra, can be combo-ed from various moves.

Preferred Ultra: Breathless
Dudley is vulnerable to Breathless pretty much everywhere... in the corner more than most. His jump is pretty floaty and he has a real slow armor break move so most of the time you'll be able to land the ultra.

Character Videos:
Abel (RaGe Isho) vs Dudley (kimokoan)

Strategy:
Abel should maintain a respectable distance, just outside fwd.MK range. He lacks quick pokes to attack you from this range so keep him within this space then poke with fwd.MK or cr.HK to start your offense. Jump-ins (even late ones) can be beaten with Falling Sky, roll or cr.MK.

Once knocked down, Dudley lacks good options to counter Abel. Cross counter and EX Jet Uppercut can be beaten by well-timed jump-ins. Cross-up often to take away his two main defensive options and you can start mixing it up.

Conversely, Dudley is a very strong hitter with high damage combos and moves. Up close and especially in the corner, Dudley has enough tools to keep you guessing and landing a single hit on you means 1/3 of your life bar disappearing. Counter poking with fwd.MK is a good option or using EX TT to counter jump ins and pokes are a good defense option. Roll if he attempts to jump in at you.

Flipside:
Dudley is a better zoning character than Abel in this match-up so he'll use that to push you into the corner and to keep you out as you try to get in. If he gets the knockdown, he'll start his pressure/mix-up routine to land a hit into beefy combos.

Notes:
- Cross Counter takes a while to start-up so cross-ups are safe if timed well. It loses to sweeps, wheel kick and tornado throw.
- Use wheel kicks to approach Dudley and mix-up from there, he has few and risky options to attack you from that range.
- Jumping in on Dudley is dangerous; st.MK and cr.HP are good AA moves, Corkscrew Cross is a good ultra to counter jump-ins as well.
- Recovery on Dudley's LP MGB is fast, avoid tick throws/MGB by backdashing.
- Watch out for his overhead on wake-up or after a hit string, getting hit by this can lead to big damage
- His FA has a very long reach so be careful. It also moves Dudley a bit forward so be aware of the spacing as well
